The Wrath of Grapes

Perhaps you’ve heard the news stories of black widows making their homes inside bunches of grapes?  I believe there were stories out of Minnesota and Vermont and I’m not sure where else.  Well, let me tell you, my mom experienced this firsthand.  No, she didn’t get bitten, thank GOD, but she had heard the stories, so upon arriving home from the grocery store with her freshly bought grapes, she placed them inside the fridge, not remembering the stories till much later.  But surely, being in the fridge for any prolonged amount of time would kill a spider.

She left the grapes in there for hours, pulled them out, and then remembering the stories, she carefully peeked around the grapes with a toothpick.  Lo and behold, there was the web, where the black widow was safely concealed inside — and very much ALIVE!!!

Of course she pounded the crap out of that sucker and inspected the grapes further.

Just FYI, if you buy grapes, PLEASE inspect all of the grapes!!!
