Do You Trash Talk?

Steve“How would your life be different if…You stopped making negative judgmental assumptions about people you encounter? Let today be the day…You look for the good in everyone you meet and respect their journey.”
Steve Maraboli, Life, the Truth, and Being Free

Wouldn’t that be an interesting day?  I catch myself sometimes talking ugly about someone, not really intending to be hurtful or judgmental.  It just comes out.  Like “Oh my gosh, would you look at her hair?” or “Seriously, she’s wearing curlers and pajama pants to the grocery store?!”  So, okay, I need to shut up.  I need to stick to the tried and true, “If ya can’t say nothin’ nice, zip your lips.”  When I see someone that I feel gives me the urge to trash talk, I will say, “Okay, me, I’m not all that.  I have no room to talk about others.  There’s plenty I need to fix right here with me.”
