What’s Worse: Too Much or Not Enough?

No Excess was yesterday’s prompt from The Daily Post.

The idea?  “Perhaps too much of everything is as bad as too little.” – Edna Ferber

Do you agree with this statement on excess?

I believe if we have been blessed with too much, it is our responsibility, our duty, to share our excess with others who have less.  Partly, the reason we were created was to share with and help others.  Each person on this earth has the ability to teach others, to learn from others, to share with others, and to love others.

Even the poor widow who only had 2 coins to offer tithed all she had to live on (Luke 20:45-21:4).  We can each learn from her generosity and selflessness.  I certainly know I can.

I believe if you don’t share your excess, it is worse having too much than not enough, as greed and selfishness is a great disease of the soul.  So, for those unsharing people, having too much is worse than having too little.  I would love to have excess, as I would give away so much more than I kept for myself.  What a wonderful thing it would be to give so much more to those who truly need it.  Though, I would settle for having just enough.  Just enough money to pay the bills and give a small amount to help others.  Just enough food to get through the week.  Just enough clothes and shoes to make it through the year.

If I had too much of anything, I’d want it to be land.  Nothing beats land and grass and trees and hills to run on, ride horses on, walk on and breathe, enjoying nature.  No big fancy shmancy house needed.  More than one bathroom would be good, though.
