Day 16 of Reading the Bible in 365 Days
Job 40 – The Lord was questioning Job and Job claimed to be unworthy and unable to reply. The Lord demanded Job be a man and answer the Lord when he is questioned. God speaks of the behemoth which is similar to an ox and feeds on grass but sounds as if it is the strongest animal God may have created. It ranks first among the works of God.
I wonder how many different animals lived that we have never learned of nor seen.
Job 41 – God speaks of the leviathan and describes him in great detail. This is a creature I do not ever want to come in contact with. I don’t believe I will as I believe it’s been extinct for thousands of years. Thank heavens! Nothing on earth is his equal. He’s a creature without fear and pretty much impossible to kill.
Job 42 – Job replies to the Lord admitting he did not understand the Lord and was wrong for judging him. He admits that God can do all things — too wonderful for him to know. Job repents. God is not pleased with Job’s three friends who have counseled him because they misrepresented God. He commands they take 7 bulls and 7 rams to Job and present a burnt offering for themselves. God told them Job will pray for them and he will accept Job’s prayer and not deal with them as he would have. After Job prayed for his friends, God made Job prosperous again and gave him twice as much as before. All his sisters and brothers and all who knew him came to his house to eat with him and each one offered him a piece of silver and a gold ring. God blessed the latter half of his life more abundantly than the first. He had fourteen thousand sheep, six thousand camels, a thousand yoke of oxen and a thousand donkeys. He had seven sons and three daughters. Nowhere in the land were there more beautiful women as Job’s daughters, and their father granted them an inheritance along with their brothers. After this, Job lived a hundred and forty years; he saw his children and their children to the fourth generation. And so he died, old and full of years.
I had no idea that Job was rewarded with more children and more animals. Hallie and I are learning so much and we are only in the beginning. God is so very generous and awesome with his miracles and many, many blessings. Praise Him!
