Share Your World – Week 11

Thanks to my friend, Cee, and her lovely blog, I’m playing her Share Your World questions for this week. I hope you join in the fun, and play along. Share your world with us.

Questions:

  1. What’s your least favorite mode of transportation?
  2. Are you a cat, dog, goat or prefer the zoo person?
  3. What really makes my heart sing?
  4. What word or words are fun for you to say?  And yes Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious counts as a fun word!

My answers:

  1. What’s your least favorite mode of transportation?  Hmmm…  Motorcycle.  And chair lift.  I like planes, because you get there faster.  I like trains, because you can relax, take your time, get to know people, and see the sights along with way.  Buses are sort of the same.  I prefer to drive our SUV or Mama’s truck, so we can stop whenever we feel like it, to check out the view, snap pictures, eat, shop, whatever.  Motorcycles scare me, I don’t like bugs in my teeth, and a couple of friends I used to have got killed on them – dangerous.  I’m scared of heights, but I LOVE to ski.  I prefer the poma lift where you can be pulled uphill and your feet are still on the ground.  Sitting on a bench with no safety bar, dangling from a cable high above the trees is NOT my idea of fun.
  2. Are you a cat, dog, goat or prefer the zoo person?  Dog would probably be number 1, but we are fanatical when it comes to animals.  We love them all, and have had many different kinds and I’m sure we’ll have many more to come.
  3. What really makes my heart sing?  My awesome daughter, Hallie; my sweet Mama – they are my bestest friends in the world and I’m a better person for knowing them.  Taking pictures.  Writing, creatively.  Singing, dancing and laughing with Hallie to the radio/ipod/cd.  The laughter of children.  Coffee in the morning.  Sunshine after it’s been raining nonstop for a week.  Our furry babies – especially Buddy (don’t tell the others).  Chocolate!  Seeing babies.  Seeing an old couple holding hands.  Traveling.  The sky.  Oh, I could go on and on here.  I don’t think you have all day, so I’ll end now.
  4. What word or words are fun for you to say?  And yes Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious counts as a fun word!  Some of my favorite words are usually Hallieisms.  She had her own vocabulary when she was leeetle, and sometimes still does:  Particerate = “Yes, I’d like to particerate in that.”;  Pacific = “Let me try to be a little more pacific.”; “I pwedge awegiance to de fwag of de United States of Amewica.  And to de pubwic, fow undewstands, one nation undew God, invisible, and dis is fow awe.”; “Scared me to deaf.”;  “I think I’m going death.”  There are more, but those are some of my favorites.  I love that I have her on audio and video tape, so I can listen to ‘little her’ again and again.  She still says cute, funny things at twelve, though.

Y’all have a beautiful day!  The sun is shining today!  Hallie-luyah!!!  ;)

My answers:

  1. Can you change a car tire?  I can, but haven’t had to for about twenty years or so.  I’m sure it’s like ridin’ a bicycle.  ;)
  2. Are you a collector of anything?  I used to collect angels and have about 20-30 angel pins that I wear on occasion.  I used to collect rocks and still do, a little, but not like Hallie and Mama do.  Now, I’m more of a collector of photographs.  You can freeze a piece of history.  You can store a memory forever in a photo, if you take proper care of it.  I LOVE photographs.  Oh, and Pocket Dragons.  These are some of ‘em above (mine and Hallie’s).
  3. If you HAD to change your name, what would you change it to?  I did actually change my last name to Blake when I finally severed all connections with my biological father and that side of the family.  When Hallie marries, I will drop the Sessums and go back to Blake.  If I HAD to change my first name, I suppose it would be Katherine, and I’d go by Kate.  I’ve always wanted a nickname.  Or Claudia.  It just rolls off the tongue like a song.  A great artist’s/writer’s name would be Claudia Blake.  Hmmm.  Maybe a good pseudonym?  I’ve loved the name Claudia ever since the days of Farscape and Stargate SG-1, when Claudia Black graced the television screen with her talent, beauty and that awesome accent.
  4. What am I wearing right now?  Blue jeans, a pink tank with a long-sleeved steel blue button-up soft and COZY shirt, and my New Balance sneakers.
  5. If you could be a tree or plant, what would you be?  Tough one.  I would have to say a Palm Tree.  They may bend during the angriest of storms, but they usually regain their strength, stand their ground, and grow tall and proud again.  They are also very fruitful, producing food and drink, and useful in other products, although I’d prefer not to be used as a doormat.  ;)

Share Your World – Week 8

Thanks to my friend, Cee, and her lovely blog, I’m playing her Share Your World questions for this week.  I hope you join in the fun, and play along.  Share your world with us.

  1. What is one of your quirky traits?
  2. If you could be given ANY gift what would it be?
  3. What chore do you absolutely hate doing?
  4. If you could play any sport professionally what would it be?

My answers:

1.  One, among the many, is that I use a baby voice when speaking to our furbabies, most of the time.  Annoying, right?

2.  A paying job would be great.  I’ve been laid off work since Feb. 2011, sent out countless resumes, gone on several interviews, and still nothing.

3.  Cleaning the toilet.  Yuck!

4.  Martial arts.  I have practiced different forms of martial arts over the years.  My daughter and I actually practiced Tae Kwon Do together (ITA), and have both earned several belts/ranks.  I competed in a tournament out-of-state and even won a couple of medals, which was pretty cool, but I would still like to get back into it and go for my black belt.

So, what would your answers be?  Holla!  ;)
