They eat tons of grass, with just a minimal consumption of other aquatic plants. Oh, and they look stocky and as if they’d move slowly on those short fat legs, but Hippos can easily outrun a human. They have been clocked at 30 km/h (19 mph) over short distances. Crazy, right?!
